Day 1: Arrival and Island Exploration

Upon arrival on Magnetic Island, we recommend starting your trip with a stroll along the picturesque Horseshoe Bay beach, where you can also grab breakfast or brunch at one of the local cafes. Alternatively, explore the island’s top sights by joining an organized tour or renting a car or scooter. The Forts Walk is a must-visit attraction. It offers scenic lookouts, where you can also spot koalas and other wildlife in their natural habitat. For the more adventurous continue down from the Forts to Florence Bay a stunning secluded beach. But be warned, its all uphill back to the Fort’s Carpark

Make sure to call into the Magnetic Island History and Craft Centre to learn more about the island’s indigenous and colonial history, as well as the art and crafts produced by local artists. End the day viewing the sunset at Picnic Bay  or with a romantic dinner at one of the island’s fine dining restaurants, such as Saltwater, Barefoot Art & Wine or the Boardwalk Restaurant at Peppers Blue on Blue Resort, which offers stunning views of the marina.

Day 2: Snorkelling and Wildlife Encounters

Start the day with a sunrise walk along the Nelly Bay to Arcadia trail, which boasts spectacular views of the island’s rugged coastline and bays before enjoying breakfast at the ever-vibrant Scallywags Café. After breakfast, take a snorkelling tour to explore the island’s vibrant underwater world. If you’re a scuba diver, rent some gear from Pleasure Divers and explore the wreck of the Moltke, only a few hundred metres from sure. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to explore this historic wreck up close!

In the afternoon, head to Geoffrey Bay to see the wild rock wallabies, which are a unique species found only on Magnetic Island. These friendly creatures make for great photo opportunities. Later, enjoy a sunset picnic at Alma Bay, one of the island’s most beautiful and tranquil beaches.
